About
This is my (yet another) attempt at keeping myself and others in the loop about my life.
I was born in Korea, moved to Chicago in ‘91 and have lived in the area ever since. I graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago (B. S. in Computer Science w/ a minor in Psychology) and graduated from Northern Seminary (M. A. in Worship Studies) a few years after that. I figured I should try to cram in as much as education as possible while I’m still (relatively) young. I’m planning on going back to school one of these days to get another masters, having to do with computers and/or business. Education is a wonderful thing.
I’ve been working as a software developer since my high school days and am currently working for a young, rapidly growing software company (ClearTrial) in the western suburbs of Chicago building a web application. Java, Oracle, JavaScript, CSS, etc… (just in case you’re curious). I get to work with other talented developers, writing code for an application that our clients really appreciate while wearing my jeans, overdosing on free coffee + soda + snacks, and drinking beer. Although like the rest of the world, I do complain about my job from time to time, when I sit down to think about it I’m really blessed to be able to work in such an environment. Thank God.
When I’m not working, I’m often doing something either church and/or music-related. For the past few years, I’ve been serving as a worship leader at my church (Lakeview Church). When I was in my church-searching phase a few years ago, I decided to give this church a try one Sunday morning since some of my friends were members and well, I haven’t looked back ever since. When I have some time to spare I write songs, work on some recordings, and perform–at events like this one. I mostly play the piano and guitar, and dabble around with the drums and bass every once in awhile. Like every other good Asian kid I started on the piano at a very young age (5) and I’m so glad my mom forced me to do it even when I was bored out of my mind during piano lessons and my teachers snapped at me by hitting the back of my hands with a ruler. If there is one thing I will force my child to do–it will be piano lessons. He/she will surely thank me later.
Anyhow, thanks for stopping by and I hope you’ll enjoy the things you find in here!
